You find the most amazing things if you open the drawers you haven’t checked in quite some time. I found this today. Written back when my Urdu hand-writing wasn’t as bad as it is now. The instant feeling after reading this was the embarrassment at how silly I was. But it was washed off when I read the date beneath it. ‘Summer 2007’. Back when I was 13.
For a thirteen year old, I consider it a big thing. I’m glad my mind was of full of things that mattered instead of the typical teenager stuff: The stupid Indian movies and the drunken Hollywood actors. This is, to date, my only piece of poetry written in Urdu. Intense in emotion to the extent of sounding funny at times!
Here it goes…
Ae dehshatgardo! Cchuptay kyun phirtay ho?
Humaray saamney aa ker tou daikho
Chori, cchupay dhamakay kertay ho, dertay ho?
Humari aankhon sey aankhein mila ker tou diakho
Mooh tor dalien gey tumhara,
Dubara sir utha ker tou daikho
Ger achay Mussalman bantay ho,
Khud ko tou aienay men zara daikho
Apnay kartoot saamney lao,
Aur Qur’an sey inhey mila ker tou daikho
Ae logo itnay gumrah hein yeh,
Deen ka matlab badal dala, daikho!
Morchon sey bahir ao, nazron ke saamney,
Hum karoron ko aazma ker tou daikho
Pakistan Islami qilah hai,
Isko nuqsaan puhanchaa ker tou daikho
Maza chakha dein gey tumhein,
Saamney aa ker tou daikho
Kitnay taqatwar ho, batao?
Myra kay hoslay ko gira ker tou daikho!
this is too good!!
